Residents are being told to ‘avoid the area’ after a car fire.
Firefighters were called to Lee Dale Close in Denton, Tameside, to reports of a vehicle being ablaze. They remained at the scene tonight.
Images from the scene show the road taped off by the fire service as smoke billowed from the car.
Members of the public are being ‘advised to avoid the area’.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly after 5:40pm this evening (Monday 19 May), five fire engines from Ashton, Gorton, Blackley and Hyde Fire Stations were called to attend a vehicle fire on Lee Dale Close, Denton.
“Crews arrived quickly and used breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire.
“Firefighters are working Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe.
“The public are advised to avoid the area.”
