Bristol City could see Scott Twine leave Ashton Gate in the next few weeks as clubs monitor his situation.
Bristol City are rebuilding this summer following the appointment of Michael Skubala. The Robins have been active this transfer window, and there could be more exits before any new signings are made.
One player who could be on his way out of Ashton Gate is Scott Twine. According to Pete O’Rourke, several clubs are following the attacker’s situation at the club after he has failed to start in their opening two games.
The Robins signed the 27-year-old from Burnley in August 2024 for a fee of around £3.2m. In the last two campaigns, Twine has been a key attacking outlet under both Liam Manning and Gerhard Struber and helped his side reach the play-offs two terms ago.
With Bristol City making plenty of changes, the attacker could be next out the door, and if Skubala doesn’t envision him as part of his plans, then an exit makes sense. Either way, a decision on his future must be made in the next week.
Who could Scott Twine’s next team be?
There aren’t many sides in the Championship that would pass up an opportunity to sign Twine this summer. He has promotion-winning experience in the second tier and has a solid record at this level.
The 27-year-old will still feel he can make an impact in the Championship, so it’s highly unlikely he drops down to League One. He won’t come cheap either, with Bristol City likely demanding a fee over £5m.
Sheffield United could be a team that is keen, following Gustavo Hamer’s exit, as well as Stoke City. Birmingham City could also be in the mix, and Bolton Wanderers may also be interested. However, they are probably unable to afford his price tag.
The Verdict: Bristol City should sell Scott Twine
If Skubala doesn’t see Twine fitting in with his style of play, then Bristol City must cash in this summer. The attacker’s price tag should be at an all-time high following last season’s displays, and it is a good opportunity for the Robins to make a reasonable profit.
Scott Twine’s stats – 2025/26 season
The 27-year-old is a great player at Championship level, and it could backfire massively should he be sold. Someone of his calibre needs to be getting regular minutes, and it’s no surprise teams are already monitoring his situation after the first two games of the campaign.
Twine does have two years left on his contract at Ashton Gate, so there is no pressure for Bristol City to sell straight away. Skubala may still plan to utilise the attacker, especially after two consecutive defeats.
