Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday’s episode (19 August), which is available to watch now on streaming service Channel 4 and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
Hollyoaks has revealed a shocking twist about Jenson Cole’s identity upon his dramatic return. Warren Fox recently shot and killed who he thought to be his half-brother in a warehouse – but viewers know that it was a setup and that Jenson was alive and well.
Prince witnessed this shooting, and later told his friends about what he’d seen. This week, as Imran exposed Leah’s infidelity at their wedding, he also told everyone about Jenson’s apparent death. But everything changed when Jenson showed up at the ceremony!

In today’s episode, the community watch on in shock as Warren realises that he hadn’t really killed his half-brother. He and Jenson agree to talk at the club later, and Warren fumes at Imran and Prince for exposing his secret.
As the wedding party disperses, Gemma catches up with Jenson, and is surprised that he hadn’t left for Marbella as planned. Jenson explains that he’d changed his mind as he has unfinished business with Warren, despite knowing that he was prepared to kill him.
Meanwhile, Warren finds Prince grabbing wads of cash in the club as he plans to run away from the village, perhaps a wise choice considering his fingerprints are on the gun that Warren used to kill someone.
When Warren confronts Prince for telling others about the incident in the warehouse, Prince finally airs his own grievances, including that Warren was responsible for Hunter’s death and got away with it.
Prince admits that, while he thought that taking someone’s life in an act of revenge would make him feel more like a man, he will truly never find a sense of peace as he is nothing like Warren.

The situation then escalates dramatically, with Prince making a desperate lunge as he attacks Warren. But at the last second, Jenson arrives at the club and intervenes to protect his half-brother.
Jenson explains the situation in the warehouse to the quarrelling pair, and makes clear to Warren that he was back in the village to repair their relationship despite everything that had happened between them.
Though Warren and Mercedes’s relationship looked to be in doubt earlier this week, the couple later pledge their commitment to one another, with Gemma being unhappy that her plan to get Warren back wasn’t working.
However, there is a twist as the final scene of the episode reveals why Jenson is sticking around. Perhaps unsurprisingly, there is more to the story than simply wanting to patch things up with his family.

While Gemma leaves a voicemail asking him to get rid of Mercedes, Jenson secretly meets with a colleague who said she was bringing him in as he’d gone rogue – thereby confirming that he is an undercover police officer tasked with gathering evidence.
Jenson begs for more time in the investigation, explaining that Froggy’s empire is now being run by Gemma. Can he bring down Warren and Gemma without his huge secret being revealed?
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
