Emmerdale spoilers follow.

It’s Joe Tate and Dawn Fletcher’s big wedding next week on Emmerdale, but it’s going to be a day people will remember for all the wrong reasons, as Dawn tries to escape and tragedy strikes.

While some plot details are being kept under wraps, we now know that Dawn’s plan to do a runner hits a snag when Graham Foster catches her putting her suitcases in the car.

“Graham just pops up, everywhere doesn’t he? He’s so sly,” Dawn actor Olivia Bromley shares.

“It’s not the first time that she’s had Graham try and stop her escaping – whether he is successful this time… I would say Dawn is really full of grit and power in this storyline and she’s very very determined. Don’t underestimate a pregnant woman!”

She continues: “I love working with Andy [Scarborough]. Graham has such a still, calm energy, and Dawn is all over the place, so it’s quite fun to act with him. We had some drama. I want to tell you, but I can’t.”

The reason Dawn wants to escape is because she’s convinced that Joe is behind the brutal attack on Billy. If she actually saw what happened, however, she’d know Kev Barton is the one who did it.

If Dawn knew the truth, Bromley reckons that “would change everything”.

The actor says: “She doesn’t want to leave him; she deeply loves this man. I think we can all sit here and say, ‘I wouldn’t make that decision’, but when you love someone regardless of what anyone else says, she wants to stick by him.

“And I think there’s something so romantic about the fact that she still chooses him, despite everything that anyone says.

“But the one thing that she can’t stand by is the fact that Billy has been hurt by him, [because] she also cares so much about him, and that’s just beyond – the lie is too much. But if it wasn’t Joe, well, she wouldn’t make that choice at all; she wouldn’t leave with his child, she wouldn’t run away with her children, she wouldn’t leave Kim. So yes, it changes everything for her.”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
