Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed that a teenage boy has been arrested following a large fire at Weston-super-Mare this week.
A 17-year-old was arrested by officers on Saturday (August 22) on suspicion of arson. He remains in police custody.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire near Locking Farm Industrial Estate in the early hours of Tuesday (August 18), with police closing part of the A371 Locking Road as a result.
The road later reopened, but several businesses were severely impacted by the fire that damaged industrial units, emergency services said.
Early fire investigation work was carried out and concluded the cause had likely been deliberate.
Detectives leading the police investigation say they have carried out a number of actions over recent days, including house-to-house and CCTV enquiries.
Avon and Somerset Police are urging anyone who can help with enquiries to complete an online appeals form, or call 101 and give the call handler reference number 5226232390.
