Sheffield Wednesday host Wolves of the Championship in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
Sheffield Wednesday welcome Wolves with the Owls looking to respond after a disappointing weekend. SWFC suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Bradford City on Friday, having previously made a winning start to the season with a 2-1 victory away at Leyton Orient.
The Owls had also progressed from the opening round of the Carabao Cup, beating Bolton Wanderers 1-0 at Hillsborough. That victory showed they can be awkward opponents on home soil, and Henrik Pedersen will hope his side can produce another spirited cup display against Championship opposition.
Wolves arrive in Sheffield after a mixed opening to life under new head coach Cesar Peixoto. They drew 2-2 with Blackburn Rovers in their Championship opener before recording an impressive 3-1 victory away at Preston North End on Saturday, giving them some momentum heading into this cup tie.
The visitors have also added to their squad with the loan signing of Wales international Jordan James from Rennes, with the midfielder arriving after astrong season at Leicester City. James could make his full debut against SWFC, alongside the impressive Fer Lopez.

“Sheffield Wednesday will be disappointed by Friday’s defeat to Bradford, but they have already shown in the Carabao Cup that they can make Hillsborough an uncomfortable place to visit. The win over Bolton Wanderers will give them confidence that they can compete with stronger opposition.
“Wolves should be the favourites, though, particularly after their excellent victory at Preston. Peixoto’s side have plenty of attacking quality and should have enough to create problems for Wednesday.
“I expect SWFC to stay in the game for long periods and make Wolves work for the result. However, the visitors’ extra quality should eventually tell, and I think they will progress to the third round.”

“Sheffield Wednesday lacked the cutting edge required to get a result against Bradford City and that has prompted a bit of frustration among fans. However, Henrik Pedersen has a new look team to gel, so it will take time to get them firing on all cylinders even if the talent is absolutely there.
“Wolves in the cup makes for a tough test. The performance against Preston North End was way more like it from Cesar Peixoto’s side, so they come into this one in good spirits.
“You would expect Wolves to shuffle the pack a bit but the strength in depth they’ve got means they should have enough to get past SWFC.
“The Owls have had some good results in the cup over the years so don’t write them off, but I do anticipate an away victory.”
