Leyton‘s café scene keeps growing, and the latest addition is a genuinely lovely one. Cannelle opens on 1st September inside Lea Bridge Library‘s striking extension, designed by Studio Weave back in 2020 and overlooking Friendship Gardens. Working closely with the library itself, the idea is for Cannelle to double up as a proper community space, somewhere to relax, work, socialise or just get some peace and quiet with a coffee.
Coffee comes via Allpress Coffee Roasters, dressed up with extras like homemade organic Madagascan vanilla bean syrup and oat caramel foam, alongside fresh juices, homemade lemonade, matcha and a seasonal soda. On the food side, expect in-house bakes including gluten-free dark chocolate espresso brownies, berry and mascarpone cakes and cinnamon Anzac biscuits, plus sourdough focaccia baked fresh for sandwiches that change regularly, with vegan, vegetarian and meat options such as romesco, cauliflower and rocket, caprese with spinach pesto, and chicken caesar with crushed comté sourdough crackers.
Cannelle is the work of co-founders Chloë Cinamon and Seraphine de Lussy, friends of over 18 years who both live locally in Leyton, joining a growing list of independent openings putting the area on the map.
