Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might be moving back to England, but apparently that doesn’t mean they’ll be spending quality time with the royal family. While Prince Harry and King Charles have begun the process of mending fences after a lengthy estrangement, Prince William still isn’t talking to his brother—which could make things slightly awkward at family reunions like Christmas in Sandringham. In fact, turns out the Sussexes aren’t even necessarily getting an invite?
The Telegraph reports that Meghan and Harry “are not guaranteed an invitation to Royal family gatherings including Christmas at Sandringham,” that they “will not be automatically included in outings for non-working members of the family despite moving back to Britain,” and that the Christmas guest list is “subject to a personal invitation from the King for all members of the family.” Okay then!

Meanwhile, the royals only found out about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s move a few days before news broke, and now they’re gathering at Balmoral for their annual summer vacation. But sources have denied the existence of a panicked “Balmoral Summit” re: their return, and claim that they all just happen to be hanging out for their annual “holiday and a barbecue.”
Gonna go ahead and note that another insider told Woman’s Day that “William’s team are in intense meetings on how to minimize any risk to him and the family. He’ll be seeking advice from everyone from lawyers to diplomatic-crisis experts.” Just saying!
