The Duchess of Sussex’s chicken coop became an unexpectedly memorable feature of With Love, Meghan, her Netflix lifestyle series. Now, as Meghan and Prince Harry prepare to move their family to Britain, the hens will not be making the transatlantic journey.
The chickens will reportedly remain at the Sussexes’ California residence, where household staff will care for them while the family is in the United Kingdom, according to The Telegraph. Their rescue dogs, Mia and Pula, are expected to relocate with Harry, Meghan, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet.
Known as Archie’s Chick Inn, the coop became a small but recognizable part of the couple’s Montecito life. In With Love, Meghan, Meghan said egg collecting is a family ritual and the birds appeared alongside the garden, kitchen, and outdoor entertaining spaces.

The decision to leave the flock in California appears to reflect the still-uncertain terms of the family’s return to Britain. A representative for the Sussexes recently described the planned move as an extended stay rather than a permanent relocation, saying the family intended to spend time in the United Kingdom this fall. The representative said Harry and Meghan were eager for their children to have a greater connection to the country.
The family is reportedly expected to establish a private, non-royal home outside London, though the exact location has not been disclosed. Harry and Meghan are expected to retain their Montecito property, as well as their home in Portugal, according to earlier reports.
