Welsh Labour MP Caroyln Harris supported Starmer’s new UK-EU traide deal as she pointed out that they are the UK’s biggest tradint partner despite Brexit coming into effect five years ago. She argued that the new deal will remove barriers holding back British businesses.
Rob began: “Nigel Farage, who is capitalising on this no doubt, says that this is the end of the fishing industry.”
She declared: “It’s nonsense, absolute nonesense and anyone who listens to Nigel Farage, the rhetoric will always be negative and talking down the country.
“The EU are our biggest trading partner. Since Brexit, our biggest exports to the EU have gone down 21%, that’s nearly a quarter, and our imports have gone down by 7%.
“Something has gone really badly wrong and that is queues of lorries at the border with food rotting away because it can’t get across the border.
“Poeple who are not able to do business with Europe because of the exemptions that are being put into place. This is a good deal for the UK.”
However, many viewers couldn’t help but disagree, as one user fumed: “No it’s not a bloody win Carolyn! Starmer out!” as another joked: “At least now the fisher folk can export their catch… as we don’t eat enough seafood in the UK.”
