Cheeky Scots Batman fans ‘leaving Irn-Bru cans on Glasgow set at night to try and sneak them into the movie’

CHEEKY Batman fans are reportedly sneaking cans of Irn-Bru onto the Glasgow film set in a bid to get the iconic Scottish drink into the film.

Bothwell Street has been transformed into downtown Gotham City for The Batman: Part II.

But cheeky superhero lovers have been doing their best to insert their own Scottish easter eggs into the blockbuster production.

Most of Bothwell Street is open during the day, and scores of fans have been able to get photos with the movie cars.

But some have been leaving Irn-Bru cans behind, with some understood to have been left on bins and hot dog stands.

Security crews are reportedly on the lookout and are having to do nightly sweeps of the set to find the iconic orange containers mischievous fans have left behind.

One social media user claims security teams told them of the fizzy juice patrols.

The post read: “Went to The Batman 2 set in Glasgow and one of the security people said that they have to search the set for Irn-Bru cans every night because the locals are trying to sneak one into the film and they keep popping up in the bins and hot dog stands lmao.”

An epic police chase with the Batmobile has been filmed across several nights on the city centre street.

The caped crusader’s iconic motor has been filmed doing doughnuts while surrounded by scores of Gotham City police cars and bikes.

A SWAT team in armoured vehicles were also firing automatic rifles at the villain-busting vehicle.

Fake snow and frost has also been sprayed onto pavements and roads to bring the wintery scene in the crime-riddled metropolis to life.

Filming on the flick – which will be Twilight star Robert Pattinson‘s second appearance as the cowled crimefighter – is set to take part over the next few weeks.

It comes as a major actor on the project dropped a huge hint that he could be coming to Glasgow.

It is also the city’s THIRD time appearing as Gotham City, as scenes for Pattinson’s first Batman film.

Glasgow has already won fans among the film’s cast, with leading man Pattinson previously describing the city as a “brilliant” Gotham.

The 40-year-old said: “It’s not at all surprising to me that Glasgow has become a sort of unofficial Gotham City.”

He added: “When you think of Gotham you think of a wonderfully Gothic city – and that’s why Glasgow works so well.

“The architecture in Glasgow is incredible – it has that real 19th century feel to it hence why it makes for a brilliant Gotham.”

The star-studded cast features Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan, alongside Saltburn’s Barry Keoghan, who is expected to reprise his role as the Joker.

The highly anticipated DC blockbuster is set for release on February 18, 2028.
