The works of Leonard McComb RA (1930-2018) are on display at the Birkenhead venue. The exhibition Nature and Humanity will be at the Williamson until Saturday 31st October. It is free to the public.
During his career, McComb was an elected full member of the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts in London. He was also Keeper of the Royal Academy, placing him in charge of the Royal Academy Schools between 1995-1998.
In total, more than 60 paintings, watercolour and sculptures are on display, along with a 10-metre drawing – the largest on paper held by any UK public collection which took several days to install.
The exhibition features several pieces of work from McComb’s estate, as well as a choice loans from major public and private collections, including the Manchester Art Gallery and the Royal Academy. It has been supported by the Weston Loan Programme with Art Fund.
