Schofield’s Bar, one of the most decorated names on the UK bar scene, is heading to London. Brothers Joe and Daniel Schofield are opening their second venue in Covent Garden this November, five years after opening the original in Manchester’s art deco Sunlight House, and picking up Best Bar in the UK three years running along the way.
Before teaming up, the brothers cut their teeth separately at some serious addresses, including The American Bar at The Savoy in London and Tippling Club in Singapore, before returning home to open Schofield’s in 2021. The London venue promises the same focus: classic cocktails, precise technique and unpretentious hospitality, channelling the golden age of 1930s bar craft.
It’s a timely move too. Manchester’s food and drink scene has been on an absolute tear lately, and while plenty of Londoners have been heading north to see what the fuss is about, Schofield’s arrival suggests the traffic might start flowing both ways, with more Northern powerhouses setting their sights on the capital – not just Burnham.
