The Diocese of Leeds is excited to be working with Growing Hope to pilot new Accessibility Training and an Accessibility Award scheme to help our churches be more accessible to children and young people with Additional Needs.
Growing Hope is a charity that champions accessibility and provides free therapy for children and young people with additional needs through partnerships with local churches across the UK.
Through recent funding, Growing Hope is offering our churches in the Diocese of Leeds free accessibility support to help make churches a space all can belong through two pathways: Accessibility Training and Accessibility Awards.
Accessibility Training sessions are practical two and a half hours session designed for anyone involved in church life.
Developed by therapists, this interactive training helps churches better understand additional needs and provides practical tools to create a more accessible and welcoming church for everyone.
Accessibility Awards are determined by a tailored accessibility review through an in-person Sunday visit and detailed report.
The award recognises churches at Bronze, Silver or Gold level and looks at five key areas, celebrating what churches are already doing well while identifying practical next steps to improve accessibility.
