A fire at a working men’s club in Sheffield is believed to have been started deliberately.
South Yorkshire Police said they are asking for witnesses to come forward following a fire at Shiregreen Working Men’s Club on Shiregreen Lane in Sheffield. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue called the police to the scene at around 4.45pm on Sunday, August 9.
Thankfully, the fire was brought under control and no injuries have been reported. However, it is believed the fire was started deliberately.
The police said a group of youths had been seen entering the building, leaving seconds before the fire began. The police said: “We are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a fire at Shiregreen Working Men’s Club on Shiregreen Lane in Sheffield.
“At 4.45pm on Sunday 9 August we were called by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to reports of a fire at the abandoned venue. The fire service brought the fire under control and no injuries were reported.
“Officers launched an investigation and it is believed that the fire was started deliberately. Following house to house enquiries, it is reported that a group of youths had entered the building and left seconds before the fire started.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything or has information that could help with our enquiries.”
