Manchester, England – Manchester City announced on Thursday the departure of Egyptian international Omar Marmoush from its ranks, after reaching an agreement regarding the player’s transfer to Tottenham Hotspur during the current transfer window.
The English club explained in an official statement that Marmoush moved to Tottenham on loan until the end of the season, with a clause obliging the London club to buy the player’s contract permanently.
Neither Manchester City nor Tottenham have disclosed the financial details of the purchase clause, but press reports have indicated that the deal could be worth up to £50 million, plus £10 million in add-ons.
Marmoush had joined Manchester City in January 2025 from German side Eintracht Frankfurt, in a deal worth 75 million euros.
The Egyptian striker was unable to secure a place in the starting lineup of the Sky Blues, due to the strong competition for the striker position, especially with the presence of Norwegian Erling Haaland.
Marmoush’s departure from Manchester City came after he did not participate in the opening round of the English Premier League this season against Bournemouth last Sunday.
The player is expected to embark on a new experience with Tottenham, who have made a number of signings during the current transfer window, under the leadership of Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi.
During his time with Manchester City, Omar Marmoush participated in 62 matches across various competitions, during which he scored 16 goals.
