SCOTTISH Rock legends Biffy Clyro have teased their potential return to Glasgow ahead of their TRNSMT headline later this summer.
Fans have speculated that the sold-out show for Screwfish at SWG3 tomorrow night, May 21, is, in fact, the chart-topping trio from Ayrshire.
Eagle-eyed followers have spotted a link to a website for a band called Screwfish, who are playing a concert at the SWG3 in Glasgow on Wednesday.
The Scottish rockers were originally called Screwfish during their earlier days, before they settled on the moniker of Biffy Clyro.
There’s been much speculation over the origins of their name, with the band giving various theories over the years – one that it was inspired by a biro pen owned by Cliff Richard, a ‘Cliffy Byro’ and another that explains it’s an anagram for ‘Big Inspiration For Feeling Young Cos Life Yearns Real Optimism’.

Their last release was 2021’s The Myth of The Happily Ever After which was welcomed by fans as they toured the album and said at the time “”It’s been way too long…”
They last played Glasgow’s OVO Hydro in 2022, before taking over the Barrowlands for three shows as a ‘Celebration of Beginnings’ treat for diehard fans as they played through their first three records.
The Glasgow Times reported from one of the gigs as they returned with a bang, saying “It is f****** nice to be home”.
In the time since their last album, Simon has been busy with heavy metal side-project Empire State Bastard. The group released their debut album ‘Rivers Of Heresy‘ last year.
Fans who’ve been lucky enough to scoop up tickets to the Screwfish show will hope to get a sneak peek at new tunes or be treated to some old favourites.
