Sixteen flats in the former Trinity Methodist Church on Tempest Road in Beeston are to be sold at auction after the landlord, Leeds Federated Housing Association, decided the required investment to bring them up to their standard “would not represent the best use of our resources.”
The housing association converted the building about thirty years ago, with the congregation moving next door into the church hall, before Faith Together in Leeds 11 converted the building into the Hamara Healthy Living Centre and built the Building Blocks nursery on the site of Holy Spirit’s church hall. The church building itself dates from 1907.
In a statement, Leeds Federated said:
“The homes in question no longer meet the standards we aim to provide for customers, particularly in terms of energy efficiency, accessibility and the level of investment now needed to maintain them.
“After carefully considering the options, we determined that the significant investment needed would not represent the best use of our resources. By selling them, we can reinvest into building new, affordable homes that meet modern standards.
“This approach means we can continue to provide higher-quality, energy-efficient homes, helping to reduce customers’ energy costs while ensuring our investment delivers the greatest long-term benefit.”
The flats are due to be sold at by Auction House on 9 September 2026 and have a guide price of £475,000.
