Twenty firefighters rushed to a blaze on a Birmingham trading estate today (Tuesday, May 20).

Four fire engines and a 4×4 brigade response vehicle were called to the Atlas Trading Estate, on Colebrook Road, in Tyseley, just before midday.

The fire in a unit initially spread to the external walls of several nearby units. It also affected vehicle parts and other metal works in a unit.

It was later extinguished by attending firefighters. No injuries were reported.

The fire service posted on X: “Five crews – around 20 firefighters – are tackling a fire in the #Greet area of #Birmingham.

“We were called shortly before 12 noon to a site on the Atlas Trading Estate in Colebrook Road.”

A fire spokesman told BirminghamLive: “Shortly before 11.55am on Tuesday (May 20), we responded to Colebrook Road, Birmingham.

“Four fire engines and a 4×4 brigade response vehicle from Billesley, Aldridge, Erdington, West Bromwich and Haden Cross stations responded.

“This was a fire in a unit at a trading estate.

“The fire initially spread to the external walls of several nearby units, before being extinguished by attending firefighters.

“Drone operations have supported firefighting.

“Identified hotspots are being cooled by two remaining crews.”

A spokesman added: “This fire affected vehicle parts and other metal works in a unit.

“There was no internal fire spread, but fire did spread to several nearby units, affecting guttering, fascia, a doorframe and a roller shutter door.

“The fire is believed to have been started accidentally. A full check of all units has been carried out using thermal imaging cameras, ensuring no hotspots remained. We left this incident shortly after 2.45pm.”
