New Intel socket coming with next-gen Core series
I know this has been known for a while and there’s nothing new here except final confirmation from Intel themselves. Intel has just published an official reference connecting its upcoming Nova Lake-S desktop platform with the LGA1954 socket. The company’s Design-In Tools store lists an “ILM Kit for the LGA1954 NVL-S Interposer for the Gen5 VR Test Tool.” NVL-S is Intel’s shorthand for the desktop Nova Lake platform.

The listing is for validation hardware rather than a consumer product. Intel’s Design-In Tools platform provides engineering and technical enablement equipment, with some products restricted to approved companies. The Gen5 VR Test Tool reference indicates that this particular kit is used for voltage regulator and platform validation.
As I mentioned, LGA1954 itself is not new information. References connecting the socket with Nova Lake-S appeared in shipping records more than a year ago. Since then, the socket has appeared in photos, while cooler manufacturers including Corsair and Asetek have already listed LGA1954 compatibility.
In case you missed, we also previously covered the first photo of a Nova Lake-S processor package showing the LGA1954 contact layout. The platform replaces LGA1851 used by Arrow Lake-S and is expected to accompany Intel’s 900-series desktop motherboard family.
Intel itself now connects the names
The difference this time is the source. Rather than a motherboard leak, shipping record or cooler compatibility table, the LGA1954 and NVL-S names now appear together on an Intel-operated website. This does not constitute a full Nova Lake-S product announcement, but it provides an official Intel reference for the socket and desktop platform pairing.
