Home Bargains has confirmed all 617 of its UK branches will shut on Christmas Day (December 25), Boxing Day (December 26) and New Year’s Day (January 1) this year, mirroring the closures it introduced in 2025.

A company spokesperson explained the move reflects the retailer’s “family-run ethos”, adding: “Our colleagues work incredibly hard throughout the year, and we want to recognise that commitment,” and that staff will get extra time off “to enjoy the festive season”.

Unlike many rivals, which reopen for Boxing Day sales, Home Bargains will remain closed on all three dates, meaning shoppers hoping to grab post-Christmas bargains there will have to wait.

The following North Wales branches are on the confirmed closure list:

  • Wrexham — Holt Road
  • Flintshire — The Precinct Way, Buckley
  • Flintshire — Mold
  • Holywell — North Road, Flintshire
  • Connah’s Quay — Deeside District Centre
  • Denbighshire — Berwyn Street, Llangollen
  • Denbighshire — Station Road, Denbigh
  • Prestatyn — High Street
  • Rhyl — Marsh Road
  • Colwyn Bay — Bay View Shopping Centre
  • Llandudno — Mostyn Champneys Retail Park
  • Bangor — Caernarfon Road, Gwynedd
  • Caernarfon — Bangor Street
  • Pwllheli — New Road
  • Holyhead, Anglesey
  • Llangefni — Bridge Street, Anglesey

For readers closer to the border, the Chester branch at Greyhound Retail Park, Sealand Road, and the Boughton store on Tarvin Road are also on the list, alongside the Ellesmere Port and Winsford stores in Cheshire.

The closures fall on some of the busiest days of the retail calendar, so anyone planning last-minute festive shopping or Boxing Day bargain-hunting at Home Bargains in North Wales should plan ahead and stock up before December 25.

No changes have yet been announced to opening hours in the run-up to Christmas or on Christmas Eve, and the retailer has not confirmed reduced hours for New Year’s Eve either, so shoppers are advised to check the Home Bargains store locator closer to the time for the most accurate, store-specific information.
