A woman was airlifted to hospital and was fighting for her life after a crash at a golf course in Sutton Coldfield today, Friday, April 11.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said crews were called at 10.26am after the casualty suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision with a van near Blake Street in Little Aston.

Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a trauma doctor and critical care paramedic and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene at Aston Wood Golf Club.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman told BirminghamLive: “Upon arrival we found a woman who was the pedestrian with life-threatening injuries in a critical condition.

“Ambulance staff quickly began administering advanced life support and advanced trauma care to her at the scene which continued en route to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where she was conveyed via air ambulance for further treatment.

“No further patients required treatment.”

One woman said she was waiting at Blake Street railway station and heard someone shouting for “help” from the golf club at around 10.30am.

Police scoured the area around bushes on Station Approach. Officers were also seen on the hunt for CCTV covering the station and car park. Other officers were seen on nearby Ryknild Close.

Police were seen setting off over a mound and down to what BirminghamLive understands is the first hole at Aston Wood.

Two people in hi-vis orange jackets, several police officers in black and one in a yellow jacket were near the far end of the golf course where there appeared to be a crashed vehicle.
