Coronation Street star Mollie Gallagher has shared a message on social media following the airing of her final scene, with the actor saying goodbye to the role that she had dubbed a “dream”.
It was announced in June that Gallagher would exit the soap after portraying Nina Lucas for seven years, with tonight’s (30 August) episode seeing the beloved character depart for a new chapter in life.

Taking to Instagram after the instalment aired, Gallagher wrote: “Nina and Corrie you have been a dream. I stepped foot on to the cobbles almost 7 years ago and what a time it has been!”
“As a working class actor from Salford, I am proud to be part of a show that feels like home, and I am beyond grateful for everything, and everybody there,” added the star, who has left to join a touring production of The Silence of the Lambs.
“Corrie brought a dream of a character to life and I can’t believe l get to say I played a dream role for my first ever acting job. Just a goodbye for now,” she concluded, before telling followers to “stay weird”.
The post was welcomed by several people in the comment section, with one follower writing: “Hope to see you back one day!! what an absolute credit you are to both yourself and the show.”
“Hope to see you back one day. A fabulous character who you brought to life with such grace,” added another, while a third commented: “You will be missed beautiful! All the best for the future and I already can’t wait to see Nina return one day! Stay weird!”
A fourth follower echoed these sentiments, writing: “You have been amazing. Nina has been one of my favourite characters hope you come back at some point in the future you will be missed.”

With Nina not being killed off, there is plenty of optimism that Gallagher could reprise her role in the future, and the actor herself has certainly expressed hope that it could happen at some point.
“I kept my favourite coat of hers. I hope it isn’t the end of Nina, and I didn’t want to take her best things in case I ever get a call back,” said the actor, who added that she had “changed” due to her portrayal of the character.
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
