American rock legend Bruce Springsteen stunned and delighted a crowd of his biggest fans – by springing onto the side of a car to greet them outside his Manchester hotel.

The man they call The Boss was bursting with energy as he greeted a huge crowd of fans assembled outside of the Stock Exchange Hotel, ahead of the last of his three sold out shows in the city centre on Tuesday.

Born to Run star Bruce, 75, SPRANG on to his limo parked outside the hotel on Norfolk Street so that he could better wave to fans and shake hands among a crowd of some 100 people crammed outside of the five star hotel.

After waving and chatting to fans, he then carefully climbed back off the car, to then be chauffeured straight over to Co-op Live ready to entertain some 23,000 fans on Tuesday night.

Onlooker, and big Bruce fan, Simon Buckley captured video footage of the incredible moment the rock veteran leapt onto the side of his car outside the hotel to wave to his fans.

People can be heard shouting “We love you Bruce” and “Go on Bruce!” in the background as Bruce beams widely, wearing a checked shirt and denim jacket.

After he was whisked off after waving to fans and signing memorabilia, an excited woman is heard in the crowd exclaiming: “Shut up did he just do that? That is mental.”

Simon joined fans outside of the hotel on Tuesday to try and catch a glimpse of the rocker after missing out on tickets to see him at the sold out shows in Manchester.

He said: “I mean he’s true rock royalty. There were at least 100 people there, many with Springsteen t-shirts on so it was proper fans.

“He shook hands with the fella in the hi-vis, who works on a nearby construction site. He seemed a self appointed traffic warden!

“I heard someone say that the other day the fella was shouting down from the roof of where he was working, and Bruce invited him down for a handshake. Guess that’s why it happened again today.”

Simon added: “I overheard a woman next to me say she’d been to every night so far, and that she afforded it by having a ‘Brucie fund’ which was running low.

“She said she might have to go back to work even though she was retired. But she didn’t care because it was worth it.”

Bruce Fever has swept the city in recent days, with die-hard fans camping outside the Grade II listed hotel in the hope of catching a glimpse or a photo with the Glory Days star.

As the MEN revealed yesterday, Bruce and his team have completely taken over the 40-bedroom Stock Exchange Hotel for the past ten days, which is co-owned by Manchester United legend, and massive Bruce fan, Gary Neville.

Rooms at the hotel range in price from £350 a night up to £4,000 a night for the top penthouse suite.

To book out all 40 rooms based on their standard rack rate would cost a whopping £23,000 a night.

Bruce has been in town for the past week using the city as his base to rehearse for the European leg of his ongoing tour.

He has been spotted leaving for daily strolls with his entourage, including a trip to visit city centre shops Marks & Spencer and Selfridges just down the road from the hotel on Exchange Square.

The MEN has also been told he headed to enjoy a stroll in Manchester’s magnificent Heaton Park too.

While he’s not yet been pictured enjoying any of Manchester’s award-winning restaurants and bars, we do know he headed over the border to Yorkshire to enjoy a meal out with his showbiz pal, actor Stephen Graham last week in Huddersfield.

He took time out from his run of concerts in Manchester to dine with the Liverpool actor who is due to play his dad in an upcoming biopic.

The Boss popped over to meet up with Adolescence star Stephen at Normans Restaurant in Kirkburton, Huddersfield.

Bruce has also been spotted heading for a day out in Liverpool, ahead of his big shows there at Anfield on June 4 and June 7.

Although after he mentioned the day trip at his Manchester gig on Saturday night, he faced a chorus of boos from Mancs unimpressed with the shoutout for their local rivals.
