We’ve written often of how we found out Diana had died, and how the world processed the unbelievable news – that the princess had succumbed to injuries sustained in a late-night car crash in Paris. Even now, writing this 29 years later to the very day of her shocking demise, it’s hard to fathom how a 36-year-old royal princess could meet such a tragic end.
Diana, the beautiful, incomparable, vibrant livewire had many plans for her second act – as a solo superstar, one year on from her divorce from Charles. The tragedy for us and the world is that we will never know what she would have achieved.
However, Diana’s heartbreaking fate on August 31, 1997, is not the only tragedy that befall the Royal Family during August, over the years those final days of summer mark very dark times indeed. We remember the other royal tragedies, some almost faded from memory…
