Wrexham are keen on a move for Sheffield United star Callum O’Hare before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, according to The Star.
Wrexham are set for a busy end to the transfer window after their disappointing start to the season. The Red Dragons are win-less in their opening three Championship outings and would like to strengthen their squad further.
Amid links to Anis Mehmeti and Pavel Sulc, Wrexham are keen on a new attacking midfielder. The latest man on their radar is Sheffield United talisman Callum O’Hare, according to The Star.
His importance to United has only grown since Gus Hamer’s move to Coventry City, while the arrival of Ben Brereton Diaz has allowed O’Hare to move back into his preferred central role after filling in on the wing.
However, any approach from Wrexham would provide another major test of the ambition of SUFC owners Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy, particularly at this late stage of the transfer window.
Why would Wrexham want Callum O’Hare?
Wrexham could see Sheffield United midfielder Callum O’Hare as an ideal addition as they continue to strengthen their promotion push under Phil Parkinson.
The attacking midfielder offers creativity, goal threat and valuable Championship experience, while his high-energy style would also suit Parkinson’s demands. O’Hare is comfortable operating as a No. 10, receiving between the lines, linking play and creating opportunities, but can also drift into wider areas when required.
He has already made an impact for Sheffield United this season, scoring in their 2-2 draw at Cardiff City, and has looked increasingly influential after returning to a more natural role. His ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch makes him a valuable asset to Chris Wilder’s side.
O’Hare remains contracted until 2028 and is regarded as an important part of United’s promotion ambitions. However, Wrexham’s growing ambition could make him an appealing target, particularly given their desire for quality attacking reinforcements.
The Verdict: Wrexham are a quality attacking midfielder away from a perfect summer window
Wrexham AFC have invested heavily in recent transfer windows, building a squad capable of competing at the top end of the Championship. After falling short of promotion for the first time in three years, though, the Red Dragons do not need to make wholesale changes this summer.
Instead, their recruitment has focused on strengthening specific areas of the squad, with Anthony Patterson improving the goalkeeping options, Danny Imray adding competition at right-back and Ben Whiteman bringing leadership and valuable Championship experience to midfield.

Phil Parkinson is also well stocked in attacking midfield and the inside-forward positions, with several players capable of operating behind the main striker. That depth means Wrexham can focus on targeted additions rather than another major rebuild.
An attacking midfielder is clearly what they want before the window closes. If they can get a quality player in that role before Tuesday’s deadline, it will have been a brilliant summer for Wrexham
