Leicester City have had a lacklustre start to their League One campaign. LCFC have failed to secure a win in League One thus far, drawing with MK Dons over the weekend ahead of a clash with Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday.
There is still a desire to add to the ranks though, and Pete O’Rourke now states that the Foxes are interested in signing Emil Riis from Bristol City.
Leicester City have recruited in attack this window, signing Admir Bristric and Conor Chaplin. However, they are one of several clubs showing an interest in Riis as Russell Martin looks to strengthen his attacking options.
Leicester City are in dire need of new striker signings
This summer, the likes of Jordan Ayew and Patson Daka have left Leicester City. Although both were poor in the Championship, they were the Foxes’ main options up top as they were relegated from the Championship.
Bristic and Chaplin have joined, but the latter is more of a versatile option who is comfortable playing on the wing and in attacking midfield. It means Bristic is the only out and out striker on the books, making at least one addition in this area a must.
Bristic lacks experience of English football too, and as a young striker, he needs time to settle. Bringing in some competition for his place and an established striker on English shores would help both him and Martin.
Depth is a must to deal with a gruelling 46-game league campaign and LCFC must address that before the window ends.
The Verdict: Emil Riis will provide Leicester City with some much-needed firepower
In the last two seasons in the Championship, Riis has hit double figures with goals. He has been a solid goalscorer with both Bristol City and Preston North End.

However, the 28-year-old has fallen victim to the signings of Dominic Ballard and Lorent Tolaj. It puts him down the pecking order at Ashton Gate and in need of a move elsewhere.
Riis has also previously scored 20 goals in a season for Preston North End and when on form, he can be a real threat at the top of the pitch. A player of his calibre should be able to perform in League One and he would be able to make the step up if LCFC win promotion.
Having performed in the division above, Riis may relish the opportunity for regular football and should score regularly in League One. It would be a step in the right direction for the Foxes who have not done a lot right in the past two years.
