A driver has been arrested after a crash at an M4 motorway junction following a dramatic police chase in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday, May 20.
At 2.50am, a single vehicle was involved in a crash at junction 17 of the M4 at Chippenham, Wiltshire, on the eastbound exit slip road.
The car was being pursued by Avon and Somerset Police at the time of the crash after which a man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, dangerous driving and possession of firearms.
The pursuit related to an ongoing aggravated burglary investigation in the Gwent Police force area.
The man is currently being questioned by police.
The area of the crash is remains cordoned off whilst officers carry out further searches of the vehicle and surrounding area.
Gwent Police said: “There was single car collision at about 2.50am on junction 17 of the M4 on the eastbound exit slip road.
“No-one was injured.
“The car was being pursued by Avon and Somerset Police at the time, in connection with an ongoing aggravated burglary investigation in the Gwent force area.
“Officers have arrested a man on suspicion of aggravated burglary, dangerous driving and possession of firearms.
“He is currently being questioned.
“The area of the collision is still cordoned off while officers carry out further searches of the vehicle and the surrounding area.”
