Firefighters were called to the scene of a vehicle fire near a busy dual carriageway junction in west London on Tuesday afternoon. Footage shared on social media showed a car, which appears to be a Mercedes-Benz, on fire close to Hanger Lane roundabout.

The fire, which caused plumes of smoke to billow into the sky, has now been extinguished, according to the London Fire Brigade who was called to the scene at 2:30pm. The service said the westbound carriageway on the North Circular approaching the Hanger Lane junction had been temporarily closed but one lane has now been reopened after the blaze was put out. TV comic Shaparak Khorsandi was among those to see smoke from the incident, sharing photos of the “crazy smoke/fire” on X.
