Thomas underwent back surgery in November, and he didn’t return to action until March at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The 33-year-old from Louisville, Kentucky, will be determined to grind as hard as possible on his game throughout the off-season, and come back in 2027 with a fresh impetus to succeed.
Justin Thomas would have hated the fact that he wasn’t in the Tour Championship field, and that should drive him on to return to his very best as soon as possible.

Before the Tour Championship began on Thursday, Thomas suggested Wyndham Clark was leading the Player of the Year race ahead of Scottie Scheffler.
However, Scheffler‘s win at East Lake on Sunday completely changed things.

Earlier this week, it was put to Thomas that had any other player enjoyed the season that Scheffler has, the Player of the Year race would be a foregone conclusion.
However, the two-time major winner didn’t agree, taking to his X account to give his opinion on the matter.
“Disagree with this take personally,“ he said.

“It’s more to me of 3 wins vs 2, with one of the 3 being a playoff event and a major. That’s so huge.

“Knowing Scottie, he will go win this week and the conversation will be over and Scottie (deservingly) wins in a landslide haha.“
And after Scheffler’s win at the Tour Championship on Sunday, Thomas took to his X account once again to congratulate the world number one on being the best player on the PGA Tour this season.
“Gonna go ahead and bump this,“ Thomas joked.
“Congrats to Scottie on another FedEx Cup trophy and ending that Player of the Year debate quickly!“
Scottie Scheffler is on another level
Scheffler has been totally dominant on the PGA Tour in 2026.
He ended his season with three wins in 20 starts, including two playoff events.
Scheffler amassed 13 top-5 finishes in 2026, 19 top-25s and missed just one cut over in Scotland.
In addition to those ridiculously consistent finishes, the 30-year-old from Dallas finished inside the top 10 in all of the key statistical categories on the PGA Tour in 2026.
Scheffler was ranked 1st in strokes gained total, 2nd in strokes gained approach, 5th in strokes gained off the tee, 6th in strokes gained putting, 8th in strokes gained around the green and 1st in scrambling.
The world number one is genuinely a complete golfer and there is no doubt at all that he will end his career as one of the best golfers ever to have graced the game.
