Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen has said they will make checks on Ricardo Santos over the coming days.
Sheffield Wednesday will assess the defender ahead of their weekend clash against Peterborough United at London Road this weekend. SWFC left him out of their squad at Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday night after he sustained an injury last Saturday against Bromley.
The Owls won 2-1 against the Chairboys at Adams Park after goals by attacking pair Louie Barry and Jamal Lowe. They have made a solid start to the new League One season and are sat in 2nd place in the table behind Huddersfield Town.
Santos, 31, made the switch to Hillsborough earlier this summer and penned a one-year deal in South Yorkshire. He has since made three competitive appearances for his new club.
In this latest update regarding his condition, his head coach Pedersen has said, as per a report by The Star: “Let’s see what happens in the next one, two, three days. I cannot say he’s out for 10 days or three days, but let’s see what happens in the coming days. He has to come a little bit on grass tomorrow, but I don’t know how much he can be out.”

Sheffield Wednesday are well stocked up with options in Santos’ position. SWFC have the likes of Gabriel Otegbayo, Liam Cooper and Ernie Weaver, among others, at their disposal.
The Owls signed the Portugal-born man on a free transfer to bolster their defensive department. He gives them more competition and depth at the back.
Santos is an experienced operator and has played over 400 games in his career to date. He will be a useful character to have in and around the dressing room and is someone who the younger players can learn a lot from.
Prior to his move to Sheffield Wednesday, he spent 12 months in the Championship with Swansea City but struggled for minutes in South Wales. He has also had spells in past at Peterborough United, Barnet and Bolton Wanderers.

Sheffield Wednesday have plenty of other options to pick from in defence and have good depth in that area. Therefore, SWFC don’t need to rush Santos back in and can afford to wait until he is 100% available to feature.
The Owls have lost only once in their first four league outings and are looking strong at the moment. They have signed a lot of players over the past few months, including Santos, and the best is probably yet to come from them still as they continue to all gel together.
Peterborough United are up next for Pedersen’s side and they will be eager for more of the same against the Posh. They then have back-to-back home games against North West pair Wigan Athletic and Stockport County.
