Europe have released “Scandinavian Eyes,” another preview of their new studio album, ‘Come This Madness,’ which arrives September 25 via Silver Lining Music. Built around a driving riff, a large-scale chorus and layered vocal and guitar melodies, the track leans into a more expansive arrangement while keeping the band’s hard-rock foundation firmly in place.

For frontman Joey Tempest, the song quickly became a standout from the sessions.

“This driving riff, orchestral magic, vocal and guitar melodies make this one of my favourite Europe songs in a long time!” Tempest says. “A lyric about crossing the line between good and ‘not so good’…We’re very proud of this track and can’t wait to perform it live!”

“Scandinavian Eyes” arrives with a performance video directed by Patric Ullaeus, putting the focus directly on the band playing the song rather than building a narrative around it. The clip gives the track’s heavier arrangement and broad, stage-ready dynamics room to carry the visual.

The single follows previously released material from ‘Come This Madness,’ including “One on One,” “The Cult of Ignorance” and the title track. Together, the songs point toward an album concerned with tension, contemporary uncertainty and more personal subject matter, while still working within Europe’s established melodic rock identity.

The album was recorded at RMV Studio in Stockholm, the recording facility founded by Benny Andersson and Ludvig Andersson. Europe worked with producer Tom Dalgety, whose credits include Ghost, Rammstein, Pixies, The Cult and Opeth. Dalgety was closely involved throughout the writing and recording process, helping shape the record from its earliest stages.

‘Come This Madness’ also features guest backing vocals from Ghost’s Tobias Forge and Opeth’s Mikael Åkerfeldt, adding two prominent Swedish rock and metal voices to the project. After recording was completed, the band brought in Mike Fraser, whose credits include AC/DC, Van Halen, Metallica, The Cult and Loverboy, to mix the album.

For Europe, the new record arrives alongside a major look back at one of the defining moments in their catalogue. Shortly after the album’s release, the band will launch ‘The Final Countdown 40th Anniversary Tour,’ beginning September 30 in Glasgow.

The timing gives Europe an opportunity to place new material directly alongside the music that established them internationally four decades ago. Rather than treating the anniversary as a purely retrospective exercise, the band is entering the tour with a new studio album and songs such as “Scandinavian Eyes” ready to become part of the live set.
