Few showers in west, mostly dry with best sunshine in the north

Cloudier skies this morning for much of Wales, central and southern England. Turning increasingly misty in southern Ireland with some drizzle on and off around coasts and hills. Sunnier for northern England and Scotland. A few showers developing in Northern Ireland.

This afternoon stays dry in northern England and Scotland. Scattered showers for Wales. The showers becoming more widespread, heavy and thundery in Ireland with some torrential downpours possible. Other areas remain dry but rather cloudy, the best sunshine in Scotland.

Tonight sees a few showers developing in central and southern England. Rain affecting the south of Ireland, some of it heavy, this then drifting through southwest England and southwest Wales.
