A Birmingham man died just yards from where a grandfather was also killed by a car.
Off-duty doctors and paramedics battled to save the pedestrian after he was struck on Stratford Road, opposite Aldi and Wycome Road, in Hall Green, just before 8.40pm on Thursday (Sep 3).
Sadly, the 68-year-old died at the scene and West Midlands Police are trying to track down the driver who fled the scene.

The tragedy happened yards from where Mohammed Banaris, 56, was killed when a BMW ploughed into his Honda as he pulled out of Beechcroft Avenue on February 11, 2025.
Mr Banaris, a grandfather, had worked for 35 years at a steel factory in Sydenham Road, Sparkbrook, and prayed daily at Hall Green Mosque in Wycome Road.
Today (Sep 4), sand marked the spot where the yet un-named victim lost his life as police urged the driver to ‘give himself up.’
Det Sgt Julie Lyman, from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said of Thursday’s tragedy: “Our thoughts today are with the family of the man who died, and we’re supporting his family.
“It’s vital that we identify the car and driver involved as soon as possible. If you are that driver, I’d urge you to do the right thing and come and call us straight away.
“If anyone who was in the area has mobile phone, dash cam or other footage from the time, we’d also like to speak to them as soon as possible.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 8.39pm reporting a collision involving a pedestrian and a car on Stratford Road in Hall Green, Birmingham.
Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, the WMAS Critical Care Car and a BASICS emergency doctor attended the scene.
A WMAS spokeswoman said: “Upon arrival we found a man who was the pedestrian in a critical condition being cared for by off-duty doctors.
“He received advanced trauma care and advanced life support from ambulance staff at the scene.
“Despite their best efforts, it became clear that nothing more could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased by ambulance staff at the scene.”
Meanwhile, Councillor Timothy Huxtable said residents were still waiting for the Average Speed Enforcement cameras which were promised along the fatal stretch since last year.
He said: “It is devastating that there has, once again, been a fatal Road Traffic Collision along the Stratford Road, Hall Green, very near to where another fatal RTC occurred last year.
“As local residents know, I have been campaigning for road safety measures along this stretch of the Stratford Road, Hall Green for many years.
“In February 2025, the need for such measures was heightened with the tragic death of a local resident as he was turning out of Beechcroft Avenue.
“Subsequently, I did a walkabout with the Road Safety Commissioner for the West Midlands, Mat McDonald, and was part of the Better Streets for Birmingham “Call for Action” last Summer along the Stratford Road at which Mat was present.
“Having been initially promised that Average Speed Enforcement cameras would be installed along the Stratford Road between Coniston Close and the Robin Hood Island, Hall Green in December 2025, and then by July 2026, Residents of Hall Green are still waiting for these cameras.”
