A man in his 60s has died at the scene of a three car collision on the A1(M) in County Durham earlier today. After the crash on the southbound carriageway at 11.40am this morning, Durham Constabulary has shared the sad update.
The incident, between J57 and J58, near Darlington, involved the driver of a Vauxhall Mokka, who is the man that tragically passed away, and his family have been informed, and are receiving support from police officers.
As well as the police officers on the scene, representatives of the North East Ambulance Service, the Great North Air Ambulance Service, and the County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service, all attended the collision.
Two other people were taken to hospital after the crash, and the road is still closed with investigations continuing at this time. Police are asking for witnesses to come forward, as they look to understand the full circumstances of the collision.
