1ST XI FIRST DIVISION

Southport and Birkdale (5) 196-9 dec Colwyn Bay (24) 197-4

Jack Parry took 3-55 for the Bay

George Johansen produced a true captain’s innings of 93 to help Colwyn Bay take a big step towards the First Division title after a great win at previous leaders Southport and Birkdale.
With two rounds of matches remaining, Bay are now 18 points clear at the summit and well on course for a return to the Premier League.
S & B won the toss and decided to bat, posting 196-9 declared off 62 overs, veteran skipper David Snellgrove making 47, while for the Bay, Matt Russell took 3-48, Jack Parry 3-55 and Shashika Dulshan 2-60.

In reply, Bay reached the winning line at 197-4 off 47.3, Johansen’s vital 93 including 13 fours, while Matthew Thompson made 36, Dan Russell 33 and Luke Russell 25 not out.
Johansen and Dan Russell put on 98 for the second wicket, the skipper and Thompson adding 66 for the third.
Bay’s remaining games are both at home – versus New Brighton next Saturday and Highfield on September 19.

Northop Hall (7) 198-9 dec Highfield (24) 201-7

Spin kings Paul Jenkins and James Hurlin were unable to bowl out a Highfield side which made the 199 needed for victory at Smithy Lane.
Hall called the coin correctly, opted to bat, and made 198-9 declared off 55 overs, opener Carwyn Johnson best with 58, Lahiru Wellalage 5-61 and Jamie Darbyshire 4-59 for the travellers.
Highfield hit back with 201-7 off 58.4, Wellalage 61, Jenkins picking up 4-68 off 28.4 and Hurlin 3-100.

1ST XI SECOND DIVISION

Prestatyn (20) 59-4 Prescot & Odyssey (2) 57-10

Ben Hughes grabbed a magnificent 6-19 off 13.1 overs and Kieran New claimed 4-34 from 14 as Prestatyn blew away Prescot & Odyssey for just 57 after inviting them to bat.
The hosts reached the winning post at 59-4 off 24.1.

2ND XI PREMIER DIVISION

Colwyn Bay 2nd XI (25) 209-8 dec Newton-le-Willows 2nd XI (6) 120-10

Bay seconds boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation with a splendid 89-run triumph against fourth-place Newton-le-Willows at Penrhyn Avenue.
Wicket-keeper Harry Spillane top-scored with 71 not out as the hosts set a formidable 209-8 off 44 overs after winning the toss and batting and slumping to 9-3 early on.
Number 10 bat Tom Clarke added an excellent 39 no, while Thomas Omelia (29) and Jaiveer Tomar (27) made useful scores.
The visitors were then bowled out for just 120, Jamie Moorhouse snapping up 4-40 and Clarke 4-65 for the home team.

2ND XI SECOND DIVISION

Fleetwood Hesketh 2nd XI (5) 181-7 Northop Hall 2nd XI (8) 189-0 dec

Adam Littler finished 99 not out and Michael Williamson was unbeaten on 80 as Northop Hall seconds set 189-0 declared off 45 overs after being put into bat.
Second-place Fleetwood Hesketh seconds held on for a draw at 181-7 in response, James Southern an impressive 3-19 off 10 for the leaders, who were already assured of promotion and are on the verge of being crowned champions.

Norley Hall 2nd XI (25) 234-7 Prestatyn 2nd XI (6) 135-10

Mark Sheridan collected 2-8 and Ashley Jones 2-48 for Prestatyn’s bowlers who were left chasing a target of 235 for victory.
The Welsh side were bowled out for 135, Sion Jones best with 26.
