Ukrainian greenhouse cucumber producers increased their selling prices this week, according to analysts at the EastFruit project. Producers say that the price increase has been primarily driven by strong demand amid a reduction in the supply of these vegetables on the domestic market.
At present, Ukrainian greenhouse enterprises are offering cucumbers at UAH 30-55/kg ($0.67-1.23/kg), which is on average 20% higher than at the end of the previous working week.
According to market participants, the upward price trend is being driven by several factors. First of all, it is a result of reduced supplies of open-field cucumbers from local farms. In addition, not all greenhouse complexes have yet started harvesting cucumbers from the second production cycle.

At the same time, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are currently selling at prices that are on average 44% higher than during the corresponding period last year. Market players also do not rule out the possibility of further price increases given the strong demand.
