SHEFFIELD travel to Ipswich on Monday (September 7, 7.30pm) knowing an away win would guarantee them a place in this year’s ROWE Motor Oil Premiership play-offs.
The Tigers currently sit five league points ahead of fifth placed King’s Lynn who have just two regular fixtures remaining.
It means if the South Yorkshire side could find a second away win of the season, they would secure a top four finish in the top-flight for a sixth straight season.
Sheffield lead Ipswich by 12 following the R2 first leg at Owlerton in July – and holding onto the aggregate would virtually get the Tigers over the line due to their superior race points difference over King’s Lynn, albeit not officially mathematically.
Team boss Simon Stead said: “We know we’re edging closer, but there’s still work to be done.
“The lads have all rallied together in recent things to really get things back on track and it would be nice if we could get the job done with two regular league fixtures to go on Monday.
“Earlier in the season when we went to Ipswich we were bitterly disappointed to come away empty handed on that occasion – we know we need better than that collectively this time around but the lads are in high spirits, they’re feeling good about themselves so we’ll be going there and giving it our best shot as always.”
