A home in Co Down has sustained “extensive damage” following an early-morning arson attack.
Police say they are treating the incident, which took place in the Balloo Walk area of Bangor at around 5.30am on Sunday as arson with intent to endanger life.
While there was damage to rooms inside the property, it was unoccupied at the time and there were no injuries.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Officers attended the scene, alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service who extinguished the blaze.
“Extensive damage was caused to rooms inside a property. Thankfully, no injuries were reported – and the house was unoccupied at the time of the fire.”
They added: “We are treating this report as arson with intent to endanger life, and enquiries are ongoing today to determine a motive and who was involved.
“Anyone who was in the area between the times of 2am and 7am and noticed anything suspicious to make contact with us.”
