A man was taken to hospital with a leg injury after a car crashed into a garden wall following a police chase. At around 7.50pm yesterday (Tuesday, May 20) a blue Mazda CX30 car came to the attention of police ANPR cameras as it was being driven in Kensington.

An unmarked police car spotted the Mazda on Green Lane after it made its way out of the city. As the Mazda was being driven along Muirhead Avenue the driver made off at high speed and a chase followed which culminated in the Mazda crashing into a garden wall on Yew Tree Lane in West Derby, police said.

The driver of the Mazda suffered an injury to his leg as a result of the crash, and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police said the passenger of the car ran off and despite an extensive search of the area officers have been unable to locate him. Fortunately, no members of the public were injured during the incident, police said.

A cordon was put in place on Yew Tree Lane while emergency services dealt with the incident.
