Hailed as “a wonderful celebration of incredible talent” and an “inspiration to see Scotland’s art and design schools come together”, the inaugural Scotland Fashion Now: Graduate Showcase launched a weekend-long programme of fashion workshops, talks and events, and, of course, a culminating catwalk show.

Opened by Màiri McAllan MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Education, Culture and Gaelic, the main event saw V&A Dundee transformed into a runway, “uniting Scotland’s art and design colleges and celebrating the next generation of design talent.”
The catwalk show bought together graduate collections from Edinburgh College of Art, Glasgow School of Art, Gray’s School of Art and The Design School at Heriot-Watt University, featuring a total of 83 looks from 26 designers.
V&A Dundee director Leonie Bell said: “It is inspiring to see Scotland’s art and design schools come together in Dundee to support and celebrate the next generation of creative talent at the first Scotland Fashion Now Graduate Fashion Showcase.
“Scotland Fashion Now and [the] graduate fashion show is an invitation to the wider fashion industry to hear Scotland’s story: a place of contemporary ideas and identities, experimentation and innovation, and a source of inspiration shaped by transcendental landscapes, rich histories and deep traditions of craft, making and manufacture.”
McAllan added: “Scotland has long been recognised for its distinctive contribution to the global fashion industry, and events like this help ensure that legacy continues.”
