taking on Helena, Mustardseed, Flute, and Thisbe – four distinct
characters within the same adaptation. That kind of multi-role
casting is common in student and festival productions, but it

weeks.
The production itself is a modern
take on Shakespeare’s comedy, mounted by Carnegie Mellon University
students. For Suri, this marks her on-stage debut, a milestone that
feels especially intentional given the name she chose to perform
under. She is credited as Suri Noelle – not Suri Cruise.
Back in July, news emerged that
Suri had filed to legally drop her father’s surname.
According to voter registration records, the college student
changed her last name from Cruise to Noelle. Page Six first
reported the filing. Noelle is also Katie Holmes’ middle name,
making the choice feel like a quiet but deliberate alignment with
her mother. Suri had actually been using the name Noelle publicly
for some time before the legal change made headlines. She used it
at her high school graduation in June 2024, and when she registered
to vote in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania during her freshman year
of college in October 2024, her registration read Suri
Noelle.
That same weekend as Suri’s high
school graduation, Tom Cruise was seen attending Taylor Swift’s
Eras tour at London’s Wembley Stadium.
A mother-daughter bond that speaks volumes
While Suri has kept a low
profile, occasional glimpses of her relationship with Katie Holmes
have surfaced in recent years. In March 2025, the mother-daughter
pair was spotted strolling through New York City during Suri’s
spring break from college. And in August 2025, Suri visited her mom
on set while Holmes filmed Happy Hours with her Dawson’s Creek costar Joshua Jackson. The two were photographed
walking down a New York City street, talking before Holmes began
her workday. Suri wore a white tank top and baggy cargo pants with
red shoes, while Holmes was in a multi-colored robe with a messy
bun, getting ready for filming.
In August 2024, Holmes offered
rare comments about her daughter while speaking to Town & Country.
The actress, who was then preparing for Suri to head off to
college, shared that she was proud of her daughter and that while
she would miss having her close by, she felt genuinely happy.
Holmes reflected on remembering what it felt like to be that age –
