The funds are part of the defense support that the United Kingdom will provide to Ukraine under a winter air defense package. It is intended to strengthen Ukraine’s protection against Russian missile attacks.
As part of the British contribution, Ukraine will also receive interceptor missiles, large-caliber artillery shells, and drones in line with priority needs identified in the NATO-compiled PURL list.

“Both the Prime Minister and I heard loud and clear on our first visits to Kyiv the importance of supporting Ukraine through this winter, as Putin prepares to use winter as a weapon by continuing barbaric attacks against civilian and energy targets.,” Streeting said, adding:
“We promised to mobilize our allies and provide greater support wherever we can. Today, we are delivering on that promise by strengthening Ukraine’s defenses and, together with 50 allies, turning commitments into real capabilities. We will stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine until it achieves victory. Ukraine’s front line is the front line in the struggle for freedom around the world, and our support will not waver”.
