A large-scale police response, including a helicopter, drones, roads policing officers and armed police, was triggered by an incident at Crew’s Hole, near St George, in Bristol yesterday, Tuesday, May 20.

It involved a car which was reported stolen from the Welland area of Worcestershire yesterday morning.

BristolLive understands that a helicopter tracked the vehicle all the way from the West Midlands.

West Mercia Police said the car was found in Bristol later in the day.

Avon and Somerset Police located the car on an industrial estate at around 8.15pm.

A witness said there was a police helicopter, a police drone unit, undercover police and armed officers at the scene.

Forensics units were also at the industrial estate.

Another witness told BristolLive that police had remained at the scene today, with some officers wearing stab-proof vests.

Three men, aged 34, 49 and 60, were arrested following the incident.

All three men were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

They have been bailed as enquiries are continuing.

West Mercia Police said: “A vehicle which had been reported stolen from the Welland area of Worcestershire yesterday morning (Tuesday, May 20) was sighted in Bristol later in the day.

“Avon and Somerset officers located the car on an industrial estate in Crew’s Hole around 8.15pm.
