Detectives investigating the assault of an 18-year-old female in the Montgomery Street Park area last month have made an arrest.
The incident took place on Tuesday, 29 April 2025 and police patrols in the area were stepped up.
An appeal for information was issued around that time and today, Wednesday 21 May 2025, officers announced that a 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged.
He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow.
A police spokesperson said: “A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious sexual assault in Edinburgh.
“On Tuesday, 29 April, we received a report of an assault on a 18-year-old woman in the Montgomery Street Park area of the capital.
“The man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday, 22 May, 2025.”
