Police arrested seven men after a man was seriously injured in a shooting.

A vehicle was fired at near the junction with Trinity Way in West Bromwich at around 11.35am on May 1.

A man, said to be in his 20s, later arrived at hospital with gunshot wounds to his head and shoulder.

The victim was discharged but yesterday, Tuesday, May 20, police made seven arrests in Smethwick and West Bromwich.

Class A drugs were also recovered.

A man has been seriously injured following a shooting in West Bromwich. The A4301 Trinity Way was closed following the shooting at around 11.35am today (May 1).

Two men, aged 21 and 22, from West Bromwich were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Two more, aged 26 and 44, also from West Bromwich, were arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife in a public place.

Three men, aged 20, 21 and 22, from Birmingham were arrested on suspicion of conspiring to supply Class A drugs and assisting an offender

They all remained in custody for questioning.

Police said: “Our enquiries are continuing and anyone with any information, is asked to get in touch with us via 101 or Live Chat on our website, quoting log 1976 of May 1.”

Trinity Way was sealed off while police conducted their investigations but reopened at 5pm on the day of the attack.

Patrols were also stepped up to offer reassurance to the community in the aftermath of the shooting.
