COPPER KNIGHT is well and truly into the veteran stages of his career. But he proved he retains plenty of enthusiasm despite his advancing years in two starts this season, not beaten far at Chester last time.

So, Tim Easterby’s charge gets the nod to come out on top at the expense of Eternal Sunshine, who ran a cracker when finishing a close third at Musselburgh last month and arrives here with her mark unchanged. Nelson Gay looks best of the remainder.

The market will undoubtedly prove informative, but the vote goes to UNDERWRITER, who represents the burgeoning Wathnan Racing team. Trainer Archie Watson can certainly prepare a newcomer.

He has an excellent record with two-year-olds at Ayr (67%) and his sales price rose to £200,000 at the breeze-ups earlier this year. Heading up the dangers is fellow debutant Strength of Spirit, while Kanishka has shaped with promise on both starts so far and this step up to 6f promises to suit.

WOOHOO escapes a penalty for her Hamilton success five days ago and, provided she handles the quick turnaround, Jim Goldie’s filly looks sure to take all the beating once again, given she did it nicely under this 7 lb claimer.

King of The Jungle is heading up the opposition, who remains in good form and was perhaps in front earlier than ideal when fourth at Leicester last month. South Shore and Travis can fight out third.

COMMANDING PRINCE couldn’t find any further progress when third of five at Bath on his turf and handicap debut last time. But given his previous promise, he is well worth another chance to prove himself on a fair mark with cheekpieces applied, which should help him concentrate more.

He is taken to get the better of Garden Oasis, who could go well again from the front, while Hale End has had excuses in both starts so far this year.

HOSANNA POWER left his seasonal and stable debut effort behind when third at Newcastle 10 days ago. Now representing a yard that continues to go well, he could be ready to take advantage of his current mark this time around.

The list of dangers includes 10-time course winner Glasses Up, who can make a bold bid for the hat-trick. Jujubella is also considered, given her improvement this year.

JOHN L SULLIVAN is fancied to make a winning seasonal return, having ended his three-year-old campaign with a career-best victory. Striking as the type that will improve further still at four years old, he will remain of interest moving forward, having been raised just 2 lb in the weights.

Inanna had a couple of these in behind when overcoming a pace bias to win over course and distance at the start of the month, with recent Catterick winner Sir Garfield and Leap Day completing the shortlist.

BELTANE has been without a win for some time, but seems to have landed on a good opportunity here. Mark Walford’s six-year-old is taken to build on his recent good effort at Nottingham.

Irish raider Circles shaped as if still in good form when getting a luckless run at Roscommon last time and can pose the biggest threat, with On The Bubble taken to complete the one-two-three.
