Spain delivers ANOTHER blow to British holidaymakers by blocking cheap data roaming in the European Union holiday hotspot as part of a Brexit reset deal – following the latest wave of anti-tourist protests.

Since Brexit, most British providers now charge their customers extra for roaming bundles so that they can use mobile data while travelling abroad. Spain has reportedly thwarted a call by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to scrap roaming charges for UK visitors.

Responding to the news, one Brit said: “People who go on holiday should enjoy their holiday and forgot about using roaming data and their phone. Welcome to the sad little people who can’t do without a phone…”

“Surely instead of blaming the tourists they should be targeting the large hotel companies that make substantial profits from them?” another asked.

Another said: “All choices have very real consequences. In 2021 you ended up with a unworkable lawless mess. Created by mighty but incompetent fools in Westminster, not Brussels.

“The EU27 treat all third nations equally. For trade with the EU, the UK MUST comply with all standing EU laws and regulations for trade with third nations. No cherry picking, no exceptions, no exempts.”

One Spaniard said: “To our friends in Great Britain: You voted out of the EU, so now you’ll have to pay (among others) roaming fees when within the EU. By the way: we remaining EU-Europeans have to pay (among others) roaming fees and idiot ULEZ and Congestion Charges when visiting your country.

“So don’t moan – you voted for it although, admittedly, none of your politicians then dared telling you the truth of what to expect after Brexit.”

It comes after over the weekend, thousands of fed-up locals kicked off demonstrations across the Canary Islands. Last month, locals also took to the streets in Barcelona, Valencia as well as Madrid.

One placard read: “Stop excessive tourism… this is our home,” while another said: “My misery is your paradise.”

A banner declared the Canary Islands “is no longer a paradise” thanks to tourism.

Another sign was inscribed with the words: “Tourists swim in s**t”.
