Hugo Ekitike is setting his sights on an earlier return to Liverpool training.
Ekitike has remained sidelined since rupturing his Achilles tendon during April’s Champions League exit to former employers Paris Saint-Germain.
The France international underwent surgery on the issue which ended his hopes of featuring in his country’s World Cup campaign this summer.
Initial projections saw Ekitike targeting a potential return to action for the Reds on Boxing Day, when Andoni Iraola’s side are scheduled to travel to Hull City.
However reports in the 24-year-old’s homeland indicate that he is aiming to get back to work at the AXA Training Centre as soon as November.
According to L’Equipe, Ekitike recently spent time at the French national side’s Clairefontaine headquarters as part of his continued recovery plans.
Liverpool included Ekitike in their Champions League squad despite his return likely to be in the final matches of the league phase, which ends in January.
