Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary this week as the couple appear to be as strong as ever. Since quitting royal life in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have set up a new life in Montecito, California, where they live with their two children Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, three.

While they both came from two different backgrounds when they met, with Harry being a working royal and Meghan being an American actress, the couple’s relationship seems to have worked for them, with Harry, 40, having proposed to Meghan, 43, less than two years after they first met. And while they have lots in common, including their passion for charity work, Harry made a seven-word admission in his memoir Spare that shows his belief that their lives before meeting weren’t too dissimilar.

He wrote in his 2023 bombshell memoir: “Being royal, it turned out, wasn’t all that far from being onstage. Acting was acting, no matter the context.”

With his wife having starred in the US hit legal drama Suits before dating Harry, the duke’s comment suggests that he felt he had more in common with Meghan than first meets the eye.

While Meghan was a big hit on Suits, she left the acting career behind to continue her relationship with Harry, eventually moving to the UK to be with him.

After their 2018 Windsor wedding, Meghan then became a full-time working royal alongside her husband, however this only lasted for less than two years, with the couple stepping back from royal life in 2020.

They then made the decision to move across the pond to America, Meghan’s home country, where the duchess has slowly returned to the celebrity red-carpet scene.

While she has not returned to acting, she has been in front of the camera a number of times over the last five years, including on the 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan.

This year, the mum-of-two also featured on her own cooking show “With Love, Meghan”, which has already been renewed for a second season.

However, although Meghan is comfortable with being on TV screens, she did admit in a 2022 interview that her acting days were now behind her.

During an interview with Vanity Fair, the duchess was asked whether she would return to acting. She said: “No. I’m done. I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.”
